The Colt Python is a .357 Magnum caliber revolver formerly manufactured by Colt’s Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. It is sometimes referred to as a "Combat Magnum". It was first introduced in 1955, the same year as Smith & Wesson’s M29 .44 Magnum.
The Magnum is a double-action revolver with a 6-round capacity. Chambered for high caliber .357 Rounds it can deliver a lot of damage, although at relatively short effective range. Compared to the FNX45, the Magnum deals more damage with same accuracy, however, it is louder, has slower rate of fire and has less then half its ammo capacity.
The magnum cylinder is slow to reload as each chamber has to be loaded manually. However, the fact that it does not require a magazine to load more than one round can be a major advantage. Reload speed can be significantly increased with use of a Speedloader.
