Here’s a video with several footages of different players’ behaviors that are slowly killing DayZ.
I think that we should focus on improving ourselves instead of whining over and over about the game. What I can see in this game (as others too) is that people find really easy to dump all their frustrations and ignorance in it, without thinking at their behaviors. Those people destroy social interactions that are at the base of a perfect gameplay inside DayZ. Either if it’s being captured and tortured or saved by a stranger.
Using glitches to kill players, killing fresh spawns, playing DayZ as a PVP game, killing an AFK player instead of tying him up. That’s all gonna destroy the quality of the gameplay. Even if I’m satisfied after I’ve killed one of those “geniuses”, I’m still sad about what DayZ could become if we’ll be outnumbered by them.

First of all, I would like to say I guess I agree with what kind of behaviour you would want to see more of from players in dayz and what you want to see less of. But I disagree this should be left to the players. You can’t flame a community for cheating. You have to remove the chance to cheat in the first place and that’s on the devs. Great example is glitching into buildings, which I’m sure is going to be water under the bridge come beta. Second of all, what players define as fun and worth while spending time on in dayz varies. Someone will hunt down bambies just for fun and someone will kill you for your gear no questions asked. But you could always give players some incentive to stop KOSing. This is something the devs don’t seem to adress at all. I haven’t heard a single thought on this topic from any of the devs, at least not regarding systems to, this is going to sound gamebraking for many; controlling player behavior. The only system for controlling behavior right now is item damage caused by gunshots. But it really doesn’t stop anyone from KOSing now does it? You nees systems that reward you for not killing every moving creature you see, but at the same time let you KOS if that’s your style of play. The devs seem totally naive to this, crossing their fingers hoping most players will contribute to orher players gameplay. There aren’t really that many so called rp servers out there, but even on those people tend more towards KOSing than talking to you. (Ex. DayZunderground servers) Why should a person trade ammo with a fellow player instead of shooting him and be off with all the goods to himself? RPers will say “to make the game more immersive”. You say you should adapt your personal moral compass into the game saying you wouldn’t KOS in real life. The only problem is this is a game, you respawn 30 seconds later. So does the players you kill. We need systems implemented into the gameplay to give you that moral compass, while at the same time being able to toss the compass completely, though facing consequenses. Done right, this won’t take freedom away, but hopefully persuade more players to choose a different playstyle, one that enhances player interaction. A humanity system done right is a push in the right direction. Maybe chosing from 2 or 3 factions plus being able to play without a faction all together. Factions done right can also benefit player interaction. Leaving this to the player communtiy though is straight up naive from the devs point of view. And to those claiming you’ve acheived this on your servers; congrats to you, but you’re the smallest minority on earth.

Another thing is the lack of things to do in the game and the lack of other threats than other players. Zombies haven’t killed a player in a couple of years. There’s no AI foes to team up against. There’s really nothing to acheive or fight for. The environment doesn’t kill you. What I would like to see is a hell of a lot harder zombies, different types of zombies or mutants (you don’t have to go all stalker or l4d, just make some zombies harder, some faster, some playing dead, some puking, some sneaking, whatever) and I’d love to see the russian spetznas extermination teams unloading from helis or apcs just tearing a citys players and zombies apart, extracting as quickly as they deployed. The environmental hazards are non existant for a player with 20hrs plus on record. A couple of status bars that need replenishing isn’t really that much hassle, at least not with all the wells and apple trees scattered across the map. Intoduce sleep, madness, and make food more difficult to come by, at least without investing time like with crops and the game makes a more interesting turn.

To sum up: there’s too little to do for the AVERAGE player and there are way too few hazards other than players in the game. The game is just too easy. Leaving it up to the players to fix this issue is so naive it’s borderline fanatic from the devs point of view. I’m just worried devs won’t adress this and mods with these elements will emerge. Only problem with the mods is they always bring more guns, vehicles etc aaaaaaaand it’s battlefield, not dayz.

I want to say that, except for the glitching bastards, I made this video to analyze the problems in DayZ about morals, human aspects and social interactions that are leaving place to cold and senseless actions. Yes, I know it’s a game and not real lfie, but in any way you see this, those guys are part of those players that ruin gameplay. It’s just a fact that I’m trying to make people notice and hopefully changing their mind.
I’ll keep playing anyway, I’ll keep having my wins on those morons anyway.

I totally feel you and agree this overly agressive player behavior destroys the game in many ways. What I’m saying is the morals that you would have in real life could be replaced by gameplay systems so that people would think twice before killing randomly, like the humanity system we saw in many of the mods. An unscripted approach to this will never work, like I said I get KOSed on most rp servers aswell.

Domino effect I call it. People kill for no reason even when you’re truly friendly. Bullied becomes the bully. Playing on private servers with killing rules is the only way. Never play on Public servers!

“bugs, lack of content, dayz team inability to provide any kind of excuse or reasoning” got 2k hours on standalone 10% gaming fun 60% constant old and new bugs (while they fix 1 bug 3 more emerge), 30% dupes, cheats, glitchers. Game cant sustain itself few weeks after patch breaking bug that have no fixes. People is not the problem if a guy shoots u u find gun to fight against him.I want zombies that are the the threat and hard to kill or any decent battle eye and not wait animal node that will go through ground, rocks buildings and kill u

  • You do realize that there are guns in this game. If you were supposed to not kill people, there wouldn’t be guns. Being a bandit hunter makes you the bandit.

Hey dude, stop complaining about people killing fresh spawns. Dayz is unscripted so you can kill whoever you want, that’s just life.

Was it really necessary to make a 9 minute video explaining something everybody already knows about? You complain about the bad behavior of other players, but does yours even help the matter? Also, if you want DayZ to become a game in which you want to have good player experiences, then why do you even pick up the guns you find? MelodicNoob is right with DayZ being unscripted. While I personally would love it to become a player interaction game like it once was, people will do what they want to do in the game. Either shut up or stop playing it.

Hey, I reckon the only reason people kill fresh spawns because they are either bored and scared that a fresh spawn could knock them out and take their gear, so people are protective over their gear and don’t care if they kill geared players or not.

That’s just a stupid excuse. Did you watch the video? I had my hands up. He clearly shot me intentionally saying “this is dayz, and dayz is fucking pvp”. He’s just an ignorant moron.
If you’re scared of losing your gear, than you can always say to put the hands up, tie them up, and if they try to hit you, of course you can shoot back.
But like this? KOS, especially fresh spawns, it’s just senseless and stupid. It just ruins the game and there’s not freaking fun in doing it. The only players doing it are frustrated people who join a server just to feel powerful killing fresh spawns. Just go play a pvp game like BF or CoD… oh no, wait. There’re players geared up over there.
