While it makes sense realistically, I feel it empowers you too much right from the start.
A punch to the head should have a chance to cause bleeding instead, so that you can still be dangerous but not deadly.
Knocking someone out with a punch could be a sensible reward for raising your skill fully into the rough or precise side (see the dev update on soft skills). Or maybe one side causes instant bleeding, and the other side gets knockouts.
I just think that when you start off on the coast, hungry and cold, you shouldn’t feel like you can just charge at someone and fuckstart their face for easy loot or revenge. You should have to scavenge for a weapon first, you should be charged with providing your own offensive power..
