Isnt new for anyone that people use web maps during play DayZ. Its also know that the DayZ is a immersive game. So think on the i thought on an new map system that isnt the most real thing but would make the game much better avoiding people to keep changing between game and a web map (or a phone app).

1) Everyone should start with a map. I know that isn’t much realistic, but who didnt find your self respawn and try to discover where are you. I dont mean that a the player position should be displayed on map but the player should have a map in game since begin so this way the player would track where he is.

2) The map should be account wide (on item 3 it will make more sense)

3) During the player exploration the map will be updated showing the location of buildings, like the web maps. This will make people even more interested on exploring and the map would work as a achivement. So if the player visit a police station it will appear on his map, etc.

4) Areas where the player has already visit would already appear on map even after the player dies and respawn. This is important or other wise people probably won’t use the new map system too, because the current problem would continue (people get in game and then go to a web site map to look there he can find some type of building). Persisting the map already explored by the player will make people migrate from web site maps (or mobile dayz map apps) to the game inside map.

 

I know that this system isnt the more realistic one, but people changing between the game and a web site with a map isnt too.

    Great idea, I thought of this too a loooong time ago. Then I got a second screen/ monitor to view the map while playing, but still I had to Shift Tab my game to go move the map around. I used Izurvive, as a phone app, but I love this map on DayZtv.com much more.

    The map was purposeful once, You had to run around and collect different parts of the map and then you could combine them to make the full picture. I never used it, but i wished I did. Now they made the map a complete one, but it does not work at all the last few patches.

    Long ago I even printed a 1.5 meter by 1.5 meter map and put it up on my wall and it cost me a pretty penny, but here is my problem, the map that I made back then did not even have Prison Island on it and it has changed immensely. I wanted to do it again, but unfortunately I have to wait a little longer as the Devs do not seem to be finished with the map changes

    Go on this site to the map tab and go right down to the bottom where you will see some additional maps to download. Download the large size one because it has an insane resolution and to be honest it looks more beautiful then the one given to us for use during play. The buildings look more authentically colored and in proportion then the grey blocks we have now on the map.

      Wow you print the full map nice hahaha.

      About the current in game map the ideia to find all parts of the map is cool but it will make people still looking on the out side map. Even with the current map option that is a full one (when it works) i think the most people wont use it again.

      The ideia of have a option to disable the buildings marks i think will make everyone happy. People that want more realism will use it without the marks and those who use outside maps will have a reason to move to the in game.
      And if you think straight the more you have walking around the more you have to know the map so this ideia of marking builds on map isn’t so unreallistic in my point of view. They could make a little hard to mark the build on map, only mark if you enter for example or only if you trigger a map action. But i think that is important to make it account wide or it will be useless.

    As for your last statement…thats easy. Use steams in-game overlay and set the web browser in it to dayztv’s map page….hey presto you dont need to alt tab out of the game to check the map as you can just bring it up in the steam overlay if you set the homepage in steams settings to http://www.dayztv.com/standalone/dayz-chernarus-plus-map/

    3. No. Too unrealistic. To make it realistic, you should draw the map yourself but still no or maybe it should be an option to draw your own map. hmmm… NO. Okay, maybe.

      Game is planned to be fun realistic is not a focus for the team.

      You want realism but the team focus on fun and working gameplay now.

    • I know that its unrealistic but the reality is people use a map outside the game. Alt tabbing or in steam browser is unrealistic too. So the problem is there and the only. About the account wide is the only way to engage people to use the map in game. If the map in game came always empty the problem of people use a outside map will continue

      Maybe for those who don´t want to see points on map could be a setting option to disable it, but giving the option i think is great make at least migrate people from outside maps to a in-game one.

    Sure you could start with a map. But the map should only show stuff you have found on that specific character. It should not show what you have explored on a new character.
